Elena Stamatopoulou is a Greek Oud player and jazz vocalist based in Maastricht, weaving Mediterranean roots into contemporary jazz. As a student at Conservatorium Maastricht, she is shaping a musical voice that is both vibrant and deeply personal.
Elena leads the Stigandr Quintet, presenting original compositions that blend modern jazz with traditional Greek sounds, creating a style that feels both familiar and new. She is also active in projects such as The Shoo Bee Doo Bees and the Palludan/Stamatopoulou Duo, exploring the full spectrum or her musical identity.
Winner of the Maastricht Jazz Awards 2025 and finalist of the B-Jazz International Contest 2025, Elena has performed on prominent stages, including opening the evening for Andrea Motis & the Fringe Orchestra at Theatre Heerlen.
Her work has also featured in the Bonnefanten Museum for Mounira Al Sol’s exhibition “A Land as Big as Her Skin.”
A performer, composer, teacher, and studio musician, Elena continues to expand the possibilities of the old and her voice, carving out a sound that bridges worlds.
